Figure AI Begins Mass Production of Figure 03 With BMW as Launch Customer
Figure AI confirmed this week that Figure 03, the company's third-generation general-purpose humanoid, has officially entered serial production at its newly opened 350,000 sq ft "BotQ" facility in San Jose, California.
The BMW Deal
BMW will deploy 1,500 Figure 03 units across its Spartanburg (USA) and Munich (Germany) factories over the next 30 months, focused on logistics, kitting, and sub-assembly stations. The deal is the largest publicly disclosed humanoid contract to date and is estimated to be worth over $200M.
What's New in Figure 03
- 9% lighter chassis with new carbon-composite limbs
- Updated Helix VLA (vision-language-action) model running on-device
- 5 hours of continuous payload work per charge, plus hot-swappable batteries
- Soft tactile skin on hands and forearms for safer human collaboration
- USB-C/PoE charging dock that doubles as a docking pad
Industry Reaction
Analysts at Morgan Stanley raised their humanoid TAM forecast to $4.7T by 2050 on the news. Competitor Apptronik responded by accelerating its own Apollo G2 production timeline by two quarters.
CEO Brett Adcock said in a livestream, "This is the year humanoid robots move from demo videos to actual revenue-generating assets."
