Tesla Unveils Optimus V3 at 2026 Shareholder Meeting

At Tesla's 2026 annual shareholder meeting on June 25, Elon Musk unveiled Optimus V3, the third-generation Optimus humanoid. The reveal included a live demonstration of two Optimus units folding shirts and preparing simple meals.

Headline upgrades include redesigned hands (22 DoF each, up from 11), an in-house "vortex" actuator family said to halve component count, and a new on-device inference chip codenamed Dojo-2-Edge.

Musk reiterated that Tesla aims to produce 50,000-100,000 Optimus units in 2026, scaling to 500,000/year by 2028. He also confirmed external customer pilots will begin in Q4 2026, with target unit price "below $20,000 at volume."

Wall Street's reaction was mixed: Tesla shares rose 4.1% on the news but several analysts maintained skepticism on the volume targets.
