Unitree H2 Completes Full Marathon in 4h 12m, Setting Bipedal World Record

In an event that drew over 8 million livestream viewers, Unitree's H2 humanoid completed the inaugural Hangzhou Robotics Marathon on June 21 with a finishing time of 4 hours, 12 minutes — a new world record for bipedal endurance under autonomous control.

A New Benchmark

The H2 ran the full 42.195 km loop without falling, swapping its battery pack twice at designated pit stops (a permitted operation under the event's rules). Eleven other humanoids participated, but only four finished, with EngineAI's PM01 placing second at 5h 47m.

Why It Matters

Marathon-style endurance has emerged as a public benchmark for thermal management, joint reliability, and balance-control robustness — three of the biggest hurdles to deploying humanoids in real-world environments.

Mean time between failures (MTBF) for top-tier humanoids has now crossed 1,200 hours in lab conditions, more than double the figure from 12 months ago.

Unitree's Roadmap

CEO Wang Xingxing announced that Unitree H2 will begin retail sales in Q4 2026 at a target price of $39,900, undercutting Western competitors by 50-70%. A consumer-grade derivative, the H2-Home, is slated for 2027 at around $16,000.

The H2 platform now also ships with native ROS 2 Iron, Isaac Sim integration, and an open SDK — a deliberate move to court Western developers.
