Skild AI Unveils 'Skild Brain' — Universal Robot Foundation Model

Skild AI emerged from stealth in 2024 with a bold thesis: one foundation model for every robot. On June 20, the company released Skild Brain v1, claiming generalization across 70+ embodiments and 200+ task categories from a single set of weights.

Demonstrations

In a 40-minute livestream the company showed the same weights driving: a DJI Matrice drone executing a navigation task, a Boston Dynamics Spot fetching objects, a Franka arm performing assembly, and an Apptronik Apollo folding laundry — all with text prompts only.

How It Works

Skild Brain is trained on a proprietary dataset combining 1.4M hours of teleoperation data, 800M synthetic trajectories, and internet-scale video. Its architecture combines a vision-language backbone (Llama 4-class) with a custom action expert head that adapts to embodiment-specific kinematics on-the-fly.

The model is currently available to a small set of design partners; broad commercial availability is targeted for Q4 2026.
